Highly effective for common bacterial infections in fish

Mardel Maracyn is a specially compounded, erythromycin-based antibiotic medication which has been shown to be effective against a number of pathogenic bacteria associated with ornamental fish disease. Erythromycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic and is primarily effective against gram-positive pathogenic organisms. Almost all nitrifying bacteria are gram-negative, so the beneficial biological filter should not be harmed by treatment with Maracyn, and you shouldn’t see a spike in ammonia or nitrite. Symptoms of clamped fins, swollen eyes, heavy or rapid breathing, patchy coloration, change in swimming behavior or corner-hiding can be signs of possible bacterial infection and may indicate a need for immediate treatment.

Fritz Mardel Maracyn can be used to treat fish suffering from common bacterial infections. Signs of infection can include the following: clamped fins, swollen eyes, heavy or rapid breathing, patchy coloration, change in swimming behavior.

Directions

Maracyn may cause excessive foam production in protein skimmers. Stop use of skimmer during treatment if excessive foaming is a concern.

• Add the contents of one package per 10 gallons of water and repeat every 24 hours for 5 days.
• Repeat this 5 day treatment only once if needed.

Important Note: Treat for 5 days even if visible signs disappear. Maracyn may be used concurrently with Coppersafe, Maracyn Two or Maracyn Oxy. Maracyn will not harm invertebrates. Consult a veterinarian or fish expert for assistance in diagnosis of disease causing organisms and treatment options.
