Reef Octopus Recirculating 12″ Protein Skimmer from Reef Octopus – with a controllable VarioS DC pumps to process more or less water, depending on your aquariums needs.Reef Octopus Regal Skimmers now incorporate the new VarioS S pinwheel series of pumps. The new pumps are DC powered allowing for several advantages over traditional AC style pumps. The VarioS pumps can be fully controlled by a 3rd-party controller or through the included control unit. With 5 different preset speeds, and multiple feed modes, you can fine-tune Regal skimmers for superior performance on your particular system.Recirculating skimmers can be employed either externally or internally (in-sump) and are usually a bit more efficient than the traditional in-sump skimmer. They do require a bit more space and height generally but the ability to fine tune, the feed pump, recirculating pump, and discharge lets you create the perfect skimmer for your tank needs. When skimmers are mounted externally, we frequently suggest a Waste Collecter, however, Reef Octopus has thought one step farther than the competition integrating a float switch into the collection cup, protecting from potential messy overflows.Note:A feed pump is required that can flow around 1.5 – 2 times the systems volume.
